Kashmir Pir-Panjal Lakes

Kashmir, IndiaAugust 202411,450 ft (3,490 m)

About this trek

The Pir Panjal range is a natural, snow-clad barrier separating the Jammu plains from the Kashmir Valley. Peer Ki Gali — the Pir Panjal Pass — sits at 3,490 m on the historic Mughal Road connecting Rajouri/Poonch with the Valley.

The region is dotted with high-altitude lakes like Nandan Sar, Chandan Sar and Neel Sar, usually sitting between 13,000 and 14,500 ft. Together they make one of the quieter, less-walked trails in the western Himalayas.

A small note

This site is hand-tended. Books are still being read, songs are still being learned, and trails are still being walked. Come back any time — the kettle is always on.
